SHARP'S Doom Bar (H)

This mid-17th century, 3-star, hotel has
a bar with a central serving area. It is
quiet at the front, as the dart board,
fruit machines and TV screens are
located at the rear. The former
"Commercial and Posting House" has been
converted into a restaurant, which is
reached by a corridor behind the bar.
Meals are served from 1200-1430 and from
1900-2100 (2100-2200 Friday-Saturday).
There is no food on Sunday evenings. The
Games Room above the restaurant has a
snooker table. The accommodation
comprises nine en-suite bedrooms and
three two-bedroomed mews flats. A beer
festival is held during the Newent Onion
Fair in September. Local attractions
include the National Birds of Prey
Centre and the Shambles Museum. Limited
parking. Les Routiers Hotel of the Year
2008.
