The smart but low-key frontage belies a
warm and welcoming 1652 coaching Inn
with stabling for 15 horses. A Grade 2
listed building it was leased from
Beaufort estate in 1745 for 1000 years
at 6d per year! The style and comfort
gradually increase as you progress
around the central counter from the hop
strewn games/public bar to the excellent
restaurant, where food is served from
1200-1430 & 1800-2130. The
well-maintained walled garden includes a
petanque pitch and smokers' pavilion.
