Originally built in the 1780's, during
the canal age, for the tunnel diggers.
Located beside the southern entrance to
the old Thames-Severn canal tunnel.
Surprisingly popular pub with character.
The 3-roomed pub is festooned with old
advertising signs, which include long
defunct beers, such a the superbly
etched window advertising "Bowly's
Entire". Moles Black rat Cider
available. Food is served 1200-1415 &
1845-2100. Live music on some summer
evenings. Conference centre at "The
Barn". The landlord took part in an
Antarctic expedition to the Pole of
Inaccessibility in 2006/2007.
